Flash Review: Pause Button by Kevin Davies

Pause ButtonPause Button by Kevin Davies

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The first thing that hit me about this book was how masterful Davies is at adding/subtracting text. While there’s plenty of books out there with “erasures” (which usually inject air into a heavier text), this book has “deletions.” Like the text was shot thru. The lack of [something] actually weighs the text down – a device certainly adding to the book’s complexity/complicity. Reading it was like thinking about how I feel in airports (I hate HATE airports). It’s me against the airport, against going, going against the airport. I got that same feeling in this book, the same blankness, the same sticky resistance to “necessity.”
